NSWJDC2018 – Innovation Forum

What does it mean to be a Good Doctor? In addition to clinical excellence, junior doctors are leading the way to innovate in clinical practice, medical education and other aspects of being a doctor.

The JDC2018 Innovation Forum will be held on the June 10th at the Sydney Masonic Centre. The two-part event will start with presentations about established innovations in health technology, systems and wellbeing, followed by a competition where groups of junior doctors pitch their ideas for improving the health system in front of a judging panel. The winner(s) of the Innovation Forum will receive $2500 to use for their original innovation project.

The Royal Prince Alfred Hospital has taken a novel, evidence-based approach to junior doctor wellbeing by creating BPTOK. The initiative provides physical and mental support to trainee doctors through personal training, yoga, mindfulness and resilience training.

As part of our innovation forum, we’re pleased to welcome Dr Louise Ward, to explain the process behind the conception of BPTOK, the challenges faced and the future directions of the initiative.

CancerAid has created waves in the medical community by creating a simple app that empowers cancer patients and their caregivers. After winning Shark Tank in the US, the company has continued to grow and establish the app as the number 1 cancer app in Australia.

Hear the story of CancerAid from co-founder and President, Dr Raghav Murali-Ganesh and be inspired to make a change.
